Build your child’s math skills, financial literacy, and confidence! Time to Register for Lemonade Day 2017!
With temperatures rising and many parts of the country thawing out from another cold winter, kids are getting excited for the start of their favorite time of year. No, not summer vacation, but close – Lemonade Day season!
Is your child registered for Lemonade Day 2017?
Every spring tens of thousands of kids across the country participate in Lemonade Day in their local area, and over 1 million kids have participated since 2007.
Lemonade Day 2017 is just around the corner, and it’s time to register your kids!
Teaching Kids How to Make Opportunities
Kids in Kindergarten-5th grades who participate learn how to start, own, and operate their own business—a lemonade stand, and gain invaluable life lessons. Besides having fun outdoors, participants are introduced to the fundamentals of starting a business and learn to:
- Create and execute a business plan.
- Develop a budget
- Set profit-making goals
- Engage in customer service
- Find and repay an investor
- Give back to the community
By learning these lessons early in life, kids are better prepared for the future and are more empowered to make their own opportunities now and in the future.
Building confidence
While Lemonade Day teaches kids great business and entrepreneurial skills, it also teaches lifelong personal skills such teamwork, confidence, responsibility, self-esteem and pride. These abilities are paramount to raising well-rounded, healthy children, things every parent strives for in the end.
Once registered, kids will have access to a host of resources, including Lemonade Day’s entrepreneurship program designed to teach entrepreneurial skills necessary to become a successful business owner and contributing member of the community.
Spend Some, Save Some and Share Some
While the program outlines everything that goes into creating and running a business, it also guides children with what to do with their money, once all expenses and investors are paid, by emphasizing the three important pillars of earning your own money:
Saving, Spending and Sharing.
Children are encouraged to spend their money on something they want as a reward for their hard work, but they should also think about saving some of it for the future and possibly reinvesting it on their business, and sharing some of it with the community as a thank you for their support.
