Keeping Our Youth Entrepreneurs Busy through the Summer
BY STEVEN GORDON, LEMONADE DAY NATIONAL PRESIDENT
While we remain optimistic that some of our Lemonade Day plans to host a stand may still happen in 2020, we know that teaching life skills and learning how to run a business are year-round activities. And now that most schools have closed for the 2019-2020 year and plans for summer camps are still up in the air, Lemonade Day leaders and our partners are still very invested in ongoing youth entrepreneurship programming and tools.
Today, I am thrilled to announce a new contest: The Lemonade Day National Best Stand Design Contest! Brother International Corporation, a provider of products and solutions for entrepreneurs and small business owners, first supported Lemonade Day Brooklyn in July 2019. They reached out to us and suggested a national contest. Our collaboration resulted in the inaugural Lemonade Day National Best Stand Design Contest, effective May 18.
Brother executives decided to expand the company’s involvement with Lemonade Day this year by supporting $100 cash prizes to winners in each of three age categories and providing marketing and promotional support for Lemonade Day in the United States and Canada to encourage youth entrepreneurs to register for Lemonade Day (it’s free) to participate in the contest.
The National Best Stand Design Contest opened May 18 and will run through June 15, 2020. The contest rules, criteria, instructions, and submission form can be found at lemonadeday.org/contests.
We thank Brother for bringing this opportunity to our Lemonade Day participants and mentors, and we wish our kids the best of luck! Happy designing!
This week, I will also conduct our national board of directors meeting. I’m looking forward to this time together to further refine our strategy to bring the youth entrepreneurship movement to more children.
Please share this blog with your friends, family members, and co-workers. All of us at Lemonade Day appreciate your support!
