Lemonade Day® Is Offering Its Youth Entrepreneurship Educational Program Free to Parents, Teachers and Other Adult Leaders for Kids in North America
BY STEVEN GORDON, LEMONADE DAY NATIONAL PRESIDENT
I’m so very happy that our generous partner, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers®, is helping Lemonade Day offer parents, teachers, mentors, community leaders and students in North America a FREE, FUN and ENGAGING educational remote learning resource: Lemonopolis®!
Lemonopolis is a program designed to teach kids business and character-building skills that will help them navigate through adversity with an entrepreneurial mindset. It is the curriculum that all registered Lemonade Day kids work on to build their lemonade stand business. This year, the COVID-19 pandemic presents a challenge to lemonade stand owners for the obvious reasons of social distancing and keeping us all healthy. But being a business owner also means “making lemonade out of lemons.” Lemonopolis provides kids of all ages an opportunity to learn positive principles on overcoming business obstacles.
The Lemonopolis curriculum aligns with core educational standards and is centered on the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets® framework, which provides support and strengths that young people need to succeed. The Lemonopolis program includes videos, lessons and interactions related to goal setting, business planning, product development, budgeting, marketing and promotion and other considerations for launching any type of business — not just a lemonade stand!
Teachers, parents, caregivers and leaders of youth organizations can access Lemonopolis to supplement home-based educational resources during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as any time in the future. For an overview of Lemonopolis, please visit https://bit.ly/2WMmUQt. To register for Lemonopolis for FREE, go to https://lemonadeday.org/raisingcanes.
This year, Lemonopolis includes motivational messages from Lemonade Day “star alumni” who have hosted their lemonade stands in their hometowns. These kids and teens share their personal insights and experiences in short videos that guide their peers through the Lemonopolis lessons with the intention of inspiring kids to start their own business. On board to produce videos are Mikaila Ulmer, 15, founder of Me & the Bees Lemonade; brothers Rohit, 19, and Sidharth Srinivasan, 17, founders of Trashbots; Hailey Hertzman and Katie Vonder Haar, 14, founders of Ooh La Lemon and 2017 Lemonade Day National Youth Entrepreneurs of the Year; and Saanvi Vinod, 12, 2019 Lemonade Day National Youth Entrepreneur of the Year. These videos will be available for viewing through lemonadeday.org/resources.
So, if you are looking for additional ideas to teach values to kids, sign up for Lemonopolis today. And while you are on the website, look at all the other resources available. I have no doubt you will find some great ideas for the kids.
Please share this blog with your friends, family members and co-workers. All of us at Lemonade Day appreciate your support!
