The Powerful Impact of Lemonade Day on Youth and Adult Mentors: Second in a Series Showcasing Results of 2017 Lemonade Day Studies

“Relationships with parents and other family members that are grounded in love, care and safety are essential to the healthy development of young people. Adults outside of the family circle also have powerful roles to play in the positive development of kids. Research published by Child Trends indicates that community adults who serve as formal or informal mentors for children and adolescents may significantly influence kids’ lives. Relationships with caring adults such as teachers, coaches, youth group leaders and neighbors can increase a young person’s likelihood of positive outcomes (such as the ability to stay calm when faced with challenges) and reduce their likelihood for negative outcomes (such as feeling depressed or being bullied).”

Caring adults are essential to 'Building the Future and Stirring Up Success' for the thousands of youth that will participate in Lemonade Day throughout the United States and Canada next year. In 2018, we are looking to recruit additional caring adults to support our young entrepreneurs. We have proof of the powerful role of adult mentors in helping kids in grades Kindergarten through Fifth Grade to launch effective lemonade businesses and learn character-building skills that will last a lifetime.

If you are not, I encourage you to sign up today with your local Lemonade Day program. About Lemonade Day
Founded in Houston in 2007 by Michael and Lisa Holthouse, Lemonade Day is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching every child across North America the business and financial skills that are the key ingredients of entrepreneurship. By learning these skills early in life, children will be better prepared to be successful, financially healthy adults. Through our fun, hands-on program Kids K-5 are empowered to start their very own business—a lemonade stand—and experience the feeling of earning real money, using 100% of their profit to spend, save and share based on their own goals.
Lemonade Day is in 62 cities throughout the United States. Over the past 10 years, we have served more than 1 million kids in our kid entrepreneur programs and in 2016 alone, 101,000 kids participated in Lemonade Day.
