Grainger Houston Hosts Fun-Filled Build-A-Stand Workshop

It was a beautiful, sunny day on Saturday, April 15th, and Houston kids and families came out in droves to spend the morning at Grainger, the leading broad line supplier of maintenance, repair and operating (MRO) products serving businesses and institutions, for the Build-a-Stand Workshop.  With Lemonade Day season just around the corner, kids learned how to build a lemonade stand utilizing recycled wood pallets.

Grainger Event

With the help of a team of knowledgeable Grainger employees and select vendors including Dewalt & Brady, the young entrepreneurs had the opportunity to put power drills to use, create their own branded sign and help assemble 10 lemonade stands.  The stands were donated to 10 local recipients including Houston Independent School District, Houston Parks and Recreation, Boys and Girls Club and Change Happens Inc.

Using Power Tools to Build Stands

Workshop attendees also enjoyed a cookout of hamburgers and hotdogs, prepared and donated by DeWalt, and of course delicious lemonade.

The Build-a-Stand Workshop was open to all registered Lemonade Day kids, Grainger families and their customers’ children. Lemonade Day Houston will provide Lemonopolis, the online version of their entrepreneurship lessons, free of charge to all registered participants and in turn, Grainger Houston matched any donations made by their employees to the Lemonade Day organization.

Grainger Build a Stand

Thank you Grainger, Dewalt and Brady for sponsoring the Build a Stand Workshop. You put a smile on so many kids’ faces, and were instrumental in teaching important lessons that will last a lifetime.

About Lemonade Day

Lemonade Day is a non-profit dedicated to teaching every child across North America the business and financial skills that are the key ingredients of entrepreneurship. By learning these skills early in life, children will be better prepared to be successful, financially healthy adults. Through our fun, hands-on program Kids K-5 are empowered to start their very own business—a lemonade stand—and experience the feeling of earning real money, using 100% of their profit to spend, save and share based on their own goals.

Lemonade Day is in 62 cities throughout the United States. Over the past 10 years, we have served more than 1 million kids in our kid entrepreneur programs and in 2016 alone, 101,000 kids participated in Lemonade Day.
